First established in 1842, Fort Scott is an important historic site. Interesting stories of war, railroad expansion and Indians are all an integral part of the town of Fort Scott. These exciting events are highlighted in Fort Scott's educational program to better acquaint their students with local history. For example, at the Life on the Frontier Festival, reenactors dress in costumes, provide a brief introduction to the history of the site and engage the students in interactive activities relative to life at Fort Scott in the 1840's.
